Two
Shanghai Appeals
Randal
Eastman, President of the Expatriate Rotarians & Friends
Shanghai has requested the district's help with the following
two appeals:
1. Nei Mengu Abagar Qi Mongolian Minority Middle School
During
our recent project trip to Abagar City in Abagar Banner, we
identified 65 children of families in dire need, who will
have to pull out
of school because they cannot afford the RMB 1200 (USD 150)
cost for
tuition/books/food & lodging. We have raised sponsorship
for 12 students so
far - need help with 53 more.
If
each club in the district would sponsor 1 child - we would
be all set!

2.
Rotary Gift of Life in China
We
have been working hard to raise awareness in bringing the
Rotary Gift of
Life project to China over the past 6 months. This week we
have taken
dramatic action with the successful completion of an operation
on Zhang
Guangrong, a young 6 year old boy from Anhui whose family
is destitute after
the passing away of his mother last year from liver cancer.
Zhang was in
dire need of a complicated VSD heart operation. We just paid
a visit to him
today 3 days after the operation and are delighted to see
him out of bed,
walking and sitting.
We
have identified 3 impoverished children from Jiangxi province
who are
also in dire need of heart surgery. 1 month is left in the
Rotary year and
we feel this is a month where we should take MORE action not
less.
We
have limited resources and so would like to appeal to our
colleagues and
friends in D3450 to help us sponsor one of the 3 children
in need.

Any
club interested in joining us please contact me (randal@rotaryshanghai.org)
or (webmaster1@rotary3450.org)
Thank
you for all your help.
Yours
in Rotary,
Randal
