1. You will recall that I have on 31st May, 2002 officially launched the Project. The response has been good, and my speech is now on the District website.

2. You have also watched the Rotary show on TV last Sunday. The contents did contain a message on the Project. The RIC even received enquires afterwards from "outside people" as to how they could help in one way or another.

3. I am also happy to advise that after I led a district delegation to sign the Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Health on 15 April 2002, I have also appointed a provisional organizing committee to make progress on various aspects. Up to the moment, the necessary procedures under the Company Ordinance have been completed and the Project is now under the management of a Council under PDG Moses Cheng and an Executive Committee under PDG Y.K. Cheng. All is well, and we are ready to take the giant step forward.

4. I promised you that I would take the lead in fund raising. I am now happy to tell you the amount. I myself will pledge the sum of one hundred thousand dollars to kick off the Project. A cheque for HK$100,000.00 will be deposited with the Treasurer, PP Edmond Chan as soon as the Hep B special account is opened very shortly. District committees are also arranging for surplus funds from previous seminars and conferences into this acount. What I want you all to do is to follow what I have done by donating generously on a personal or club capacity to enable this Project to take off. Any amount will be thankfully received and faithfully applied. Remember - the target is 1 million babies.

5. This is likely to be the last request I make in my capacity as District Governor and I know that you will accede to my request. With your help, the Project will be a resounding success, and the prospect of a "Healthy China, Healthy World" a total reality.
